PET Labs houses a commercial radiopharmaceutical manufacturing and distribution center and is home to the first Siemens-CTI 11-MeV negative ion cyclotron with adjoining hot cells in Africa that support both commercial and research and development programs.
The chemistry and radiochemistry facilities include wet radiochemistry laboratories (for both short and long lived radionuclides), instrument/counting laboratories, automatic gramma counter (multi channel analyzer), radioisotope TLC scanner, a state-of-the-art HPLC system with detectors for gamma and beta emitters, as well as UV- visible detection. The PET Labs facilities are specifically designed for GMP manufacturing in mind.
